Steps to make Sweet and Spicy Simmered Grilled Tofu and Ground Pork:
- Cut the tofu into 8 pieces.
- Slice the onion thinly and lengthwise along the grain.
- Stir fry the ground pork in a non-stick frying pan without any oil. When the color of the meat has changed add the onion and stir fry until the onion is softened.
- Add the tofu and the ingredients marked with * - 300 ml of water, the soy sauce, mirin, sake, light brown sugar and dashi stock granules - to the pan in Step 3. Cover with a piece of aluminum foil and simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat.
- Add the grated ginger, and finally add the katakuriko dissolved in water to thicken the sauce.
- Sprinkle some chopped green onions on top to taste. It's done! It's good with some ichimi togarashi red chili pepper powder sprinkled on too.
